Sonia is a member of the Paris Bar and a graduate of Sciences Po Paris in business law. After gaining experience with international law firms (Weil Gotshal &Manges, DLA Piper) as a student lawyer in France, Sonia began her career in private equity with Clifford Chance, where she helped major investment funds acquire stakes in leading African companies (Saham, Royal Air Maroc, CFAO, Mundiapolis, Manzi Finances etc).
“[…]All credit belongs to him who really goes down into the arena, whose face is covered with sweat, dust and blood, who fights valiantly, who makes mistakes, who fails again and again – for there is no effort without mistake and failure […].” Theodore Roosevelt
An entrepreneur at heart, Sonia has decided to merge her passion for law and new technologies, creating the venture capital firm Mavouna Avocats in 2019 to fulfill a clear mission: to provide access to the law by offering services at an accessible price and content.
Having practiced professionally on both continents and trained in the different legal systems, Sonia now supports both investment funds and start-ups in France and French-speaking Africa. Sonia has also trained over 300 entrepreneurs in France and French-speaking Africa in the fundamental legal issues that entrepreneurs need to master.
